Kamigami Battles Foil Cards: Stars Are Right vs Rise of the Old Ones

Quick answer

Choose Foil Cards - Kamigami Battles - The Stars Are Right/Into the Dreamlands Set if you want the lower-priced foil upgrade at USD 12.57. Pick Foil Cards - Kamigami Battles - Rise of the Old Ones Set if you prefer the Rise of the Old Ones art and don't mind paying USD 13.77.

What the two Kamigami foil card sets have in common

Both sets are official foil upgrades for Kamigami Battles, sold as add-ons rather than standalone games. Each contains premium foil cards designed to replace or supplement cards in your deck, and both are aimed at collectors and players who want a more striking table presence.

Because the catalog does not list card counts, exact card lists, or foil finish type, treat those as unknowns. If you need a specific card in foil, confirm the contents before buying; otherwise, base your choice on which expansion you play most and the price difference.

Where The Stars Are Right/Into the Dreamlands Set wins

At USD 12.57 (compared with a USD 19.95 list price), this is the cheaper of the two foil sets in the current catalog. That makes it the easier entry point if you are new to card game foil upgrades and want to test how foils feel in your Kamigami Battles deck before committing more.

The set covers two expansion themes—The Stars Are Right and Into the Dreamlands—so it suits players who already own or plan to play those Kamigami Battles expansions and want their cards to match.

Where Rise of the Old Ones Set wins

At USD 13.77 (compared with USD 19.95 list price), Rise of the Old Ones costs about USD 1.20 more than the Stars Are Right set. The premium buys you foil cards tied to the Rise of the Old Ones expansion, which matters if that is the deck you actually bring to the table.

If you split your play between multiple expansions, the price gap is small enough that matching your most-used deck should outweigh the savings. Neither set is described as containing exclusive gameplay content, so expect cosmetic enhancement rather than new mechanics.

The trade-off: price versus expansion match

The core trade-off is straightforward: The Stars Are Right/Into the Dreamlands Set saves you money and covers two expansion themes, while Rise of the Old Ones Set costs slightly more and focuses on one. Buying both gives you foil coverage across three expansions, but only if you regularly play all of them—otherwise one set will sit unused.

A practical rule: count which expansion appears most in your decks. If it is Rise of the Old Ones, pay the extra USD 1.20. If you play Stars Are Right or Into the Dreamlands more, take the cheaper set and put the difference toward sleeves or a playmat.

Decision rules for buying Kamigami foil upgrades

• If you play Rise of the Old Ones most: Buy the Rise of the Old Ones Set at USD 13.77. The small premium over the other set is worth it when the foils match the deck you actually shuffle. Check your deck box: if Rise of the Old Ones cards dominate, this is your set.
• If you play Stars Are Right or Into the Dreamlands: Buy The Stars Are Right/Into the Dreamlands Set at USD 12.57. It covers two expansion themes for less money. This is also the safer first foil purchase if you are unsure how often you will use foils.
• If you play all three expansions regularly: Buy both sets. Combined catalog price is USD 26.34, still below the USD 39.90 combined list price, and you get foil coverage across all three themes. Only buy both if you genuinely rotate through all three expansions; otherwise one set will go unused.
